I had to leave that group. Not just because of the stupid answers but the banality of some of the questions
I didn’t want to leave, as I found the lunacy and crazy advice hilarious.

Unfortunately they didn’t like me telling them that it was hilarious, and decided it was time for me and a few fellow pirates to leave and go join something less crazy like Mumsnet..... Shocked Very Happy

The abuse I received last year after the girl nearly got a life ban for having a pint of been from a pub on the bike at IMUK.

People saying it is ridiculous but a was playing devils advocate saying she could have been dehydrated and crashed her bike into someone or that if they make it open season on boozing in the race, they will void their insurances and it could be carnage as you don’t know peoples personal tolerance levels.

I got hammered coz they all love her Very Happy
Spent about 4 days winding people up.

Went in said pub this afternoon.
Pint of full fat coke fill bottles with ice and juice and on my way.

It's very race friendly, no alcohol for me.....

The site is a mush mash of loons, normals plodders and shifters.
A bit like every internet site, there is a "click" and people do seem to get banned for next to nothing while some very near the cuff comments go unchallenged.

Like life don't take it too seriously.

Anyone racing next Sunday I'll be on hunters with the DJ and the drums!

I believe it was Jennings that referred to her as an "absolute legend". Doubtless there was a 'smash' in there too.

The Group is just one huge cliché.

Over the weekend, someone made a slightly tongue in cheek post about not getting a tattoo. Based on the comments, one would believe that when you have completed an IM, it is compulsory to have a tattoo.

Apologies for offending anyone here, but I just don't get the whole tattoo thing.

In the early days, it was quite unusual to have an IM tattoo; in fact when I first started out, no-one got IM tattoos when they completed one. But like the IMJ group, they have become a cliché, due to their present-day ubiquity. Those who got them 10+ years ago probably didn't realise they'd become so popular!

I guess it's like wearing an IM Finisher shirt, but you never have to take it off, or wash it Very Happy

Are they all worrying about a non-wetsuit swim? You know, all those people that spent the whole winter, swim training in a pool without one Laughing It's tempting to re-join just to throw that grenade in there Laughing

If you can't do an Ironman without a wetsuit, you shouldn't be 'allowed' to get the tattoo Wink

I'm surprised it's not all of the swimmers now panicking because the swim may not be able to go ahead. The council put a warning out for blue-green algae at Pennington. No swimming allowed. Oh and the fire on winter hill Rolling Eyes

It appears that most are weak swimmers in IMJ.

That's an issue I have with the way the sport has gone; Standard/Oly races have withered on the vine, as did the O3/Nice distance long ago (4/120/30)...all because they want to dumb down the swimming so more people will do it. IM is already short-changing on the swim tbh. The ITU distances are a lot more equitable - which is surely the point of a 3 discipline sport!

Now the sport seems to consist mainly of Sprints and straight to HIM/IM. I haven't done an Oly for 4 years, they're so thin on the ground. That said, I see Lake 32 has one at the end of the summer that I fancy. Original Nice dist would be cool too (O3).

Oh, and there's Perranporth; you could never accuse them of paying lip-service to the swim Twisted Evil Surprised

Strange that the responses calmed down when I asked what they would think if someone took them out on the bike and killed their day, then they found out they’d been drinking.

Apparently they are using the rule where you can use wetsuits above 24.5, just no Kona Q? Shame, if so, I fancied re-joining the group just to stir the pot!

Maybe I could do it by saying that anyone who thinks they can get a tattoo with no swim should be shot!
