The role of ketones in sports nutrition/diet, have long been championed by none other than Dr Michele Ferrari himself.....
Just smash 500g of coconut oil a week, you'll be ready to go

That means going into ketosis naturally though & comes at the cost of not having carbs available as fuel. This ketone supplement apparently allows you to burn fat & have a reserve of carbs.

Hmm, I'm pretty circumspect as to it's benefits as a marginal gain to your average weekend warrior; much better to train & sleep properly in most cases. Much like EPO a the other end of the scale; it only works if you're doing absolutely everything else right - and doing a lot of it (training & EPO).
What it doesn't mention, is whether the body can metabolise the Ketones concurrently with carbohydrates or whether you have to run out of easily available CHO before it uses the Ketones. Also, is there a limit on the amount of Ketones supplement the body can assimilate over the course of an hour, or longer event. We're used to seeing the 60+30g/Kg per Hour bandied about for Glucose/Fructose absorption.

Don't confuse it with Ketamine at checkout.

Probably still the world's most knowledgable physiologist.... |
Although I do find it unsettling that he refers to cyclists as the 'organism' in his sports phys blogs. !

I've not read his blogs before, some interesting stuff there too.
His Blog on Ketones https://www.53x12.com/ketones references the work by Kieran Clarke @ Oxford University and mentions the product that I linked to from TdeltaS

I was going to write a sarcastic comment about this, but I guess in finding his blog you saw the headlines about the guys past.
Instead I've got sucked into his blog and reading about his assessment of races in the height of the doping era, most interesting is the comparison with improvements in athletics performances at the same rate as cyclists. Confirming what we're all learning about East African athletes that are now being caught out.
I also love way he just glosses over anything around his "real" work. Got to give the guy credit for his research and approach.

Hence my comment "none other than". His close association with a certain cyclist has made him quite notorious, and therefore any other athlete associated with him questionable, pre or post Lance.

I directed that at Doca, not you. I'd picked up on your comments.

Yes, I know his past, I've read the books & seen the movie.
I didn't know he had an online presence though & as someone else said, regardless there is probably not many as knowledgeable in sports performance.

I've just rechecked his blog - it's not there anymore, I think it's had a makeover (different format presentation etc.) - so maybe a few years ago it was in Italian and just thrown into google translate for the english version ( I didn't do it) but it definitely used organism
