Salad, in general, is highly perishable, diced cucumber at room temp, let alone higher, will go rancid very quickly, That is about the most perishable thing I can imagine, in what way can it not go bad?

I'm also unsure of your logic that butter goes bad and cheese doesn't...

Not dissimilar to 15 years ago GBP-wise when I frequently visited; albeit 12-15 for a Rosti in the mid 00s was pretty damned steep. It would be better if the Pound wasn't on it's ar5e (but that reads for most western currencies).
