May be in Israel in January 2019 working, so looking at doing the Israman 113 while out there.
Wonder if anybody has done it and can give advice about logistics. Never needed any health documents before, any issues around obtaining those, any preferences on local hotels, or other advice. I will be entering it late, as around work commandments, does it sell out?

Not going to race it hard as so out of season, but should be a bucket list tick.

TTowel has done this one a couple of times hasn't he? If he doesn't pop up on this thread follow him on Twitter and I'm sure he'll answer any questions you have.

Also see Alice 'Hectosaurus' Hector. Her favourite even I seem to remember, being a multiple winner.

One of the guys from Trainer road did this last year I think (maybe year before) and talked about it on the TR podcast. Might be worth giving that a listen if you can find the episode!

Yes, done it twice. One of the best events you will ever do, such a great town and beast of a course.

Logistics. Can fly to Ovida airport which is close to Eilat, or go Tel Aviv and hire a car. About a 3 -4 hour epic drive.

Accom through booking.com is fine for apartments a short walk from the main strip, otherwise they are all chain Isrotel places, fair price and most offer all inclusive.

Its one of the stress free events, no faff at all and although a split transition, unlike IMUK events, they transport all your stuff for you, so take your run kit up and bring your bike back.

You wont do many better events.

Same, done it twice - great race and incredibly friendly locals and well organised. Nice warm sea swim but they always seem to allow wetsuits anyway. Bike course is heavily front loaded - take it easy on the climb out of town and hammer it later as the rest is pretty flat. Downhill run first few miles is a quad killer - again take it easy at the start and push later. You get what you pay for with the hotels - not much discounting going on. Depends if you want all-inclusive, watersports, seafront, pool etc.

Med cert is not exactly demanding - 'A health permit signed by a doctor confirming that he/she is physically capable to take part in the ISRAMAN Race'. Have you got a work occ. health doctor you can get to do it? Otherwise whatever your GP charges for a private letter, or maybe try one of those dodgy internet doctors who does cheap 'Fit to drive' certs for LGV.

Thatís all great, very re-assuring. Med certificates was only unknown as not had to supply one before. Will be based in Tel Aviv with Work for week, so intending to drive down Thursday Morning, then fly home Sunday.
Any idea if sells out, as will not get confirmation around being out there till beginning of December.

If you email the organiser, he will help you out and will get you an entry, even if it says its full.

Just name drop a recommendation from Hywel or Alice and he will let you in.

Let me know if you want his email but should be on the site.
