Nothing set in stone yet, as I'm still pondering what i want to do next year but some mates are doing this as a 'lads weekend'.

Be interested to hear your thoughts/experiences. It will be my first Euro based tri (I think).

Hammerer and I are the go-to on this. If only I could just gather-up and paste in all the stuff I've written on it in the last 10 years Laughing

This is a very good start - big thread from the hay-day of TT. 2010 is the year a bunch of us did the race: http://www.tritalk.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1055436

Note that the Run has changed slightly now, as has transition location, but the swim & bike remain the same, and the race 'hub' is around the sports complex as before.

Transition is now in the tennis stadium rather than that being the finish area that you ran 6 times in the race. Its also now single transition not split which was a PITA on the day before the race. Spent way too long on my feet after a nightmare flight on the friday delayed by about 8 hrs meaning i arrived about 3am Saturday morning at the hotel!

2 lake swim is something else. Loved that with a nice run between the lakes across the bridge over the canal. Swimstart was chaos as the first turn is only a couple hundered metres in.

The bike course is probably the best Ive ever done, a mix of everything, fantastic scenery, climbs and flat...basically 25km down a closed autobahn, and nice climb, the wine region, about 25km gently rolling along the danube, 60k in you get a 5mile climb uo Gansbach then a great descent, small 3km climb then decent back into town. its surprisignly fast, A) because of typical Austria roads and B) the almost 20 km descent back to town split by a small climb.

run is still up and down the canal, nothing special, just a bit different around the event village now.

I would love to go back one day.

You should do it for the 2-lake swim and the bike, everything else is worth 'putting up' with. 4:39 to beat Wink

Even bumped into Savaloy at the Cotswold 113 this year - a few comebacks recently!

First HIM I ever did. And so glad it was. It's hands down the best course I've done. The split swim is just genius. The bike course just awesome and I've never had Coca Cola that cold on a triathlon run before.

I'd love to go back one day.

Its drivable for me... very tempted

Suspect that it will be super competitive, unlike Weymouth on a cold and wet September day (and therefore not a good one to have a go at qualifying for Nice)

If you have a car there, I stayed at Hotel Seeland. Popular with the pros back in the day; breakfast opposite MvH. Lots of free parking, quiet and you can take the bike out for a spin from the front door. About 15-20 mins to venue.
