I plan to do the “ practice “ run with them I think it was £50 ish last year.

Tri ing if you be improved dramatically or had a bad day at the office in Nottingham I guess it’s possible.

If you haven’t and you didn’t ... your going to need a much much better bike !

Good day at Nottingham, but hope with an extra year of training I could drop maybe as much as 30 minutes off my Outlaw split if did same conditions. Might be a stretch but I don’t think completely unrealistic to aim for.

The “ new” IMUK course with allegedly 7000ft+ of climbing is going to be a lot slower than the Outlaw course....?!?

Guy in the bike shop said you could do with a gravel bike for the “ Bumpy Cobbled road near Ramsbottom”
Jesus I hope that be isn’t on the route

Or are you doing Outlaw again next year?

Doing Bolton this year. Was trying to say that if I was doing Outlaw my goal would be to drop around 30 minutes off the bike, so thought that level of increased fitness might equate to being close to my old Outlaw split at Bolton, ie old Bolton course is about 30-45min slower than Bolton?

However if that is the new course then will be a lot slower.

Not following this closely, but imagine there will be a good amount of hot air on FB Ironman Journey page about this? Rolling Eyes Very Happy So is this just rumour at the moment, or have IMUK made an announcement?

JeffB alluded to changes at Hamburg for next year, but I've seen nothing official or any associated chat.

Be careful - Remember sharing information on IM UK bike course online has previously got you ejected from the race... although I imagine that was with previous organisers.

I don't think I've let any cats out of bags there Jim! I also think the 'bad old days' of heavy-handed RDs that IMUK went through in the 00s are also gone.

So where has the rumour of a new IMUK bike course come from, FB?

Yep Jorgan
Face book mostly.
The one that keeps getting put up on strava is probably favourite.
The one with 8.5k of accent closes the A666? A main road near Bolton so that may be unlikely

It’s all hot air for sure.
But it is changing and those that entered looking at the cut offs and have already paid there cash are quite rightly unhappy.
An extra 2-3000 ft of climbing when your near the limit is going to see Ironman giving out a few less 17 hours finishers medals.

Yeah, thrown out of the race is small fry compared to losing your house for commenting on the run course Exclamation

If its anything like what happened with Lanza this year it will go like this. Rumors of change start, rumors spread, goes quiet, rumors start again, event organisers deny the course is changing, course gets "leaked", couple of weeks before they officially announce changed course, people lose their collective s**t.

Interesting, do you have the other 2 links?

It would be harsh to make it 7000+ft but if they do, so be it. May just have to find another race later in the year to try and go fast, or train REALLY hard Rolling Eyes Laughing
