Hi all,

We are moving house in the summer which leads to an exciting proposition - I can convert half of the double garage into a home gym and forgo the dreaded experience of circumnavigating people on their phones in my current gym.

A Concept 2 rowing machine aside (and turbo station), anything you'd recommend?

Cheers,

Big screen, beer fridge, sofa.

If you are doing tri I wouldn't bother with the rower, not going to give you much benefit.

Decent turbo set up.

You could look at a treadmill but home grade ones are often crap and commercial grade are .

Some decent resistance kit. A few kettle bells is a good place to start.

Also think about insulation and draft proofing the garage, and some heating.

Different times. I remember as a student doing hour sessions on the Concept II with just a blank wall to look at, knowing that the tape in your Walkman was a C90 so you'd have to do at least 15 minutes with just the sound of the machine at the end of the workout Rolling Eyes Wink

Concept II will give loads of benefit for triathlon! Perfect for the bike and with some benefit for the swim.

If you have spare cash and doing Sprint triathlons, I would consider an assault air bike. Doing intervals and combining with kettlebells etc will really fook you up....ha ha in a good way for building strength.

Not vital for triathlon, I would also consider a pull-up bar and olympic rings for some fun!

Some rubber flooring and stuff for strength & conditioning; kettlebells, a TRX, some mirrors, foam roller, some weights...

Enjoy the gym!
