I know this might be better placed in the Events section, but here goes, does anyone know of any early/late season triathlon races in France, around the Boussac,/La Chatre/Montlucon/Clermont-Ferrand region? Thanks!

check here - http://www.trimapper.com/tris_eu/

and here - http://www.activeglobal.com/france-events/triathlon

and here - http://www.france-triathlon.com/

and here - http://www.fftri.com/triathlon-0 (French tri fed site - may need to drill into it as they tend to work by regions)

There was a notice about regular midweek - running - races up Puy du Dome from the car park when we visited a couple of years ago.

Think you've got all the resources there.

Just to add that triathlons are more and more popular here so you do have to enter quite some time in advance. And don't forget you either need a licence from a national tri federation or a medical certificate that states you can race "triathlon in competition" - the competition part is vitally important(!).

Hope you find something.

Thanks! Hoping to find some duathlons/triathlons around the areas stated, but if you know of anything in particular please feel free to DM me.

Wanting to do this next year or year after, soon as we get our motorhome...Would have done it this year, but the dates didn't work well with Mrs BF's shifts. Next year looks more likely as we'd have 3 full days to get back to frozen Scotland before she has to be back.

It's a day drive through France, overnighter on ferry and day's drive home, so we'd just make it with a recuperation day after the race.

Sounds great! I hope to be down there next year, either supporting coached athletes or racing myself, depends on how fit I could get as to which distance I would do.

Also, although it's quite away from you is the "Natureman" 1/2 iM distance in the Gorges du Verdon region, last sunday in october. Fantastic event, great cse & organisation. They could do a full iM distance there easily. Swim is in an artificial lake & warm. Bike has everything, closed roads. Run is mainly off road. http://natureman-verdon.com/

there's a couple of French tris that we have done and can recommend

not far from Calais (at Gravelines) is Ch'triman - www.chtriman.com - held at a rowing centre much like Dorney. There's a long, half and sprint tri to choose from and I think I have read somewhere (not on the website) that it's the French National LD Champ race this year. we did the sprint last year and might do the half his year

further afield - actually almost Spain! - at St Jean de Luz (near Biarritz) is Ironbask - www.ironbask.fr. They're not running the LD event this year for some reason, but there is a middle, standard and sprint to choose from. we did the standard a couple of years ago. another very well organised event and they have a race for disabled triathletes - that was very well supported when we did the standard.

Ch'triman you can do as a weekend trip - daytrip if you live near a Channel port. Ironbask you can tie in with a holiday as we did.
