I am the world's worst technician in swimming, need to know how to prevent getting a stiff neck every time I do a long training session or distance swim. Doesn't seem to matter whether I breathe only to the left or bi-laterally, still come out of the water with stiff aching neck and shoulders. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Ironwolf,

Honestly can't say that I am the best technition in the world either but it sounds to me like you might be lifting your head where as you should be rolling your body. Your head and neck shouldn't be moving that much if you have a decent body roll.

Have you access to a video camera so you could film your stroke?

Cheers
