Will do this either next year or 2008. Only been swimming since a week or 2 before this years race but think I'll be thereabouts by next year. Just don't wanna rush into or miss out on a European and/or World Duathlon Champs AGAIN so would want to be keeping plenty of speed work in my training till well into 2007...

Would be great to do it with fellow TT's

Norsemandave or anyone really ! does anyone know if there is a prize structure at this race ? I wondered if there was more than the obvious reason that not many (hardly any) pros had a go. I know about the T shirt deal but apart from that whats the deal..anything ?

Age group ? Top three ? first woman.. anything ?

hi mate, i ate in the same resteraunt as bjorn anderson for the 2 nights before the 2005 race and spoke to him about this. basically there is a scandanavian kudos thing for the race so there is no prize money but the chance to beat norwegians on their turf and hold the course record. a norwegian mountain biker winning in his first tri in 2004 obviously was another good incentive for bjorn to win.
there were some quality semi pros from germany/ denmark and norway there too.

while i was there i also met jan sibberson and he reckoned any pro not scandanavian would not race because of the nature of the course/ travel etc and sponsors not wanting the coverage in such a "small" race, which when you are there will understand.

bjorn reckoned that 10 hours is about as fast as anyone will ever cover this course in, with conditions at their best etc, so his 10-30 was a really good time.

apart from that its t-shirts all round. and thats it.

Thanks, makes sense really just wasnt sure.

So its a Scandanavian Kudos thing ! Im getting the impresion that this event is akin to our Yorkshire Dales then, I mean Wenslydale of course ! low key race,no racking no aid stations and bloody tough ! just that Norseman is a step up on the distances ! and altitude and swim....oh my god ! Cant help it but when i look at the picture of athletes jumping from the ferry, the way its front end opens up reminds me of a great white at feeding time ! gotta get this picture out of my head or i can see me coming back in on the boat !.
