Just wondering whether anyone has tried using Red Bull (without vodka b4 anyone says Smile )as a pre race pick-me-up?

I'm wondering whether to have one when I wake up for my race Sunday just to get me going.

Any thoughts?

fizzy and races don't mix for me.

so far as i know red bull is a short term stimulant.. if you're not fuelled for the race by then red bull will just make you hyper for the first 10mins (i reckon) in fact it might even up your metabolism... wasting your energy.. ne c'est pas ?

I have a friend with me who always has a can of red bull pre race. She has made this part of her routine along with a bottle of her energy drink.

Tri it first and see if you like it. Not everyone can tolorate the same things. Very Happy

not sure about using it before a race, wouldn't it lead to insulin release and, as ed says, screw you good and proper

i've used it during and it definitely improves performance in longer events

Fizzy drinks before a swim? I suppose it can get you an extra second from the CO2 propulsion.... Twisted Evil

Fine to use it before as long as it is just before, and you can handle the fizz. If you can drink fizzy stuff 10 mins before you start, then it is a load of sugar and caffine, no much different to any other sports drink, except the isotonic part. If you are fully hydrated beforehand, then why not?

I'd hate to be in the pool if they all had Red Bull and baked beans for breakfast! Enough to make you go Mr. Green
