Yet again, I'm hoping that the TT Massive will prove to be the font of IT knowledge...in a non-geeky, plain English speaking kind of way... Wink

I've had an annoying virus type thingy on my PC for a while that does nothing but try to send an e-mail to a website I don't recognise every month or so.
I have a firewall (Zonealarm), AVG virus checker and Spybot.

The other day I got fed up and googled the address...and found it was adware. I loaded a free trial of something called Spy Sweeper recommended on some kind of sad IT forum and it removed this and 60-odd other pieces of adware, mainly cookies. The free trial is only 14 days so...

- I always thought spyware and adware were one and the same...do I really need two separate programmes to keep them under control? Spybot gets good reviews but has never spotted these things.
- If I do need an adware checker, is there a free one? Or should I just delete all cookies every few weeks??

Ta peeps. Smile

Cobbie,

ZoneAlarm, AVG and Spybot is a good combination - exactly what I run at home, in fact! & Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee too !!

I would also suggest switching from Internet Explorer to Firefox.

How's that for non-geekinees! Very Happy
