good news, I got the stuff from Simon, he put two more sets in, so now there are 6 prizes, see below!
World Champion triathlete Simon Lessing has agreed to donate six lots of his 2006 Tri Dubai triathlon kit to raise money for for his chosen charities Athletes for a Cure and WorldVision.
The kit is all size large, “as is” condition, no alternatives, no refunds, no exchanges etc. You get what is in the picture, thats all nothing else. Looking at the kit I'd say it is a small large and most of it comes with the labels and is unused.
So, here is how it will work.
1. You enter the raffle by buying a entry to an "event" on entrycentral - you can buy from one to ten entries at the same time. Each entry costs £10, a credit card processing/clearing fee will be added when you finalise your purchase. If you want to purchase more than ten entries you’ll have to go through the process again, be sure to click the “save my details” box the first time through.
2. When the entries close(April 6th, 2007) I will post the entry list on TriTalk so you can see how many people have entered.
3. I will then sort the numbers based on a random numbers generated in Excel. I'll save a copy of the randomised list as a password encrypted zip file, you will be able to download this before the draw, but the password will not be available until after the draw...
4. Jasmine Flatters, until Feb'07 the Chair of the British Triathlon, will be sent the range of numbers(1-n, where n is the number of entries) and asked to pick six at random. She will email the numbers back to me
5. I will post these to Tritalk by end of 9th April along with the password for the zip file.
6. The winners are the people whose numbers correspond with that row in the encrypted spreadsheet, not the buying order etc. So, for example if Jasmine picks number 12 as the first number, the winner will be the entry on row-12 of the spreadsheet.
7. The winners will be notified by email. The winners will be given until April 12th to select their choice of kit by specifying a preference from the kit available. Obviously the 6th winner will get whats left...
8. The kit as agreed with the winners will be packed and addressed and had carried back to the UK
9. The kit will be mailed to the winners on the 26th of April.
10. A complete disclosure of the finances for the raffle, and the charity contributions will be posted on this TriTalk thread.
FAQ
Q. What charities will benefit from this effort?
A. Simon is racing in 2007 for Athletes for a Cure and also suggested WorldVision
Q. Why is this being done through entrycentral?
A. We needed a quick and easy way to accept online payments. Neither of Simons chosen charities are registered for Justgiving.com – I contacted WorldVision who have UK offices and they are not ready at this time to pay the monthly subscription to Justgiving to allow them to benefit from donations made online.
Q. How will donations be made?
A. All the money donated at the end of the raffle will be transferred into US Dollars at that days exchange rate and paid into the relevant charity via their online payment facility. The donations will be made in Simons name and receipts will be posted on TriTalk. Since I transfer $5000 US Dollars and more per month to the US, the wire transfer fee will be paid by me, and will not come from the charity contributions, nor will any other banking fees.
Q. Why was entrycentral chosen?
A. I have had a working relationship for Ian for some 4-years, when I was Chairman of the UK Triathlon club Tri-Force, we used entrycentral for both our club organised events and club memberships, the club still use entrycentral as do many other UK Race organisers. The process to create events is simple, management is easy and Ian, the founder of entrycentral, is active on TriTalk and has agreed to make a good will payment to the charities that covers any additional money accrued as a result of the “raffle”.
Q. Does entrycentral allow payments to benefit under the UK Government Gift Aid scheme?
A. No, again for simplicity, GiftAid is NOT available.
Q. Will be contribution be more expensive this way and will entrycetral or the organiser make any money from my entry?
A. Like JustGiving.com, entrycentral has to pay for creditcard processing. Unlike Justgiving, entrycentral does not require the charity to pay a monthly registration fee. Actually I am likely to be out of pocket by around £30 for postage and various fees, I've never been lucky in raffles so consider this my contribution!

You don't need to. Its just a sure fire way to ensure theres no fiddling. I'll sort the entry list, save it and password protect it. Anyone who wants a copy can download it. Once thats done there will be NO changes.
Jasmine, for yes its her, will pick four numbers, I'll post them here and anyone with her email or phone number can verify that she chose them, or just ask her when you see her at the Spring Ballbuster... although that will be before she's actually chosing them and theres no point in asking her to choose your number since you nor she will no what that is!
She won't have access to the password or list so won't possibly be able to guess the outcome, even if only four people enter she won't know which is which...
Once I announce the results here, anyone that wants to will be able to look at the spreadsheet with the password I give you... and see that it was all fair and above board. Simon has sent the kit to me, its winging its way via UPS and will be delivered tomorrow. I've verified its Simon by calling him...
So we are all set. Unless anyone has any last minute changes or suggestions... I'll open the entries by 5pm Wednesday. Its all down to Ian paying me the money, and me paying the charities... No problem with Ian as I've met his better half... - And you guys will just have to trust me... but I have much more profitable ways of making money than pinching some charity dosh, if I could only get the share price back over $105...

So, must get back to work... got to finish those slides on highly multi-threaded architectures... which has nothing to do with lycra and its ability to wick sweat away...

I'm ready, I did what I had to do way after everyone in the UK was in bed, so I missed Ian. Hopefully he'll be able to open up the entry in the morning and post the link here.
When I get in I'll update the title and add the link to the first entry.
Good news, Simon sent more kit, so now there will be SIX prizes _________________ ++Mark.

One question, the admin fee for the tickets. Is it £1 per ticket or £1 per transaction? So if I bought, say, 5 tickets would it be £51 or £55?
£51
Well done Simon
Well done Mark
Well done Ian
Well done everyone that buys a ticket, particularly the height-challenged among us for whom this kit will act as a windbreak
Well done Natalie Portman (you know why, you little minx)
