I know this is a bit anal but......

It really annoys me that I work hard in training to knock 30 secs off my swim then p*ss it away fighting to get my top on in T1. I have got a tri top which I could wear in the swim, but it's got pockets on the back and I've got this horrible mental image of the pockets filling up with water like a parachute or something and really slowing me down. What do you reckon?

SLowpoke,

I think most tri tops (or suits) have pockets in the back. My orca does. Don't think it makes any difference at all - suppose depends just how lareg and baggy they are. If lycra, elastine or some other elasticated material then it wont fill at all.

Why not just get a tri suit on sale? ......ebay?

I'm loathe to buy a tri suit 'cos I bought tri shorts this year and it would seem a waste of those. I'm actually kicking myself 'cos they had some nice Saucony tri tops on offer at 10 in the sports hall yesterday and I should have bought one.

On ebay do you just search under "triathlon" as whenever I've looked there doesn't seem to be much gear on there.

Yeh there isn't a lot is there. Well I guess you could wait and buy some of this years gear before the new stuff arrives. Havn't seen many sales/special offers yet though Confused

I def recommend a tri suit - saves a lot of hassle

Rob, they were on sale in the sports hall at the tri in ludlow yesterday. The annoying thing is I can't remember the name of the shop - I think it might be The Athletes Foot, or Feet or something like that. They seemed to be really good tops and were in the Saucony sort of blue and gold colours they use. I think they are this years stock too - not like some of the 80's throwback stuff you see advertised in some places.

If anyone else who was at the Tri can remember who was selling them please let me know.

and for covering ampleness in the waist region Embarassed

Does anyone know of tri suits that are remotely snazzy then? Daz and I are getting fed up of seeing plain black/blue/grey/etc. Wouldn't mind a nice spotty number myself! And perhaps a spiderman suit for Daz? Razz

Alternatively you can do some open water events, then what ever you wear will be covered by your wetsuit. I have a speedo tri top and ironman shorts that fit perfectly under the wetsuit...
