Thanks Chief - defo some help. Despite the merrymaking (to be expected from you lot !!!) I'm genuinely concerned as to how long this means I'm going to be out of action. Particularly frustrated because it's only really in the last couple of weeks I've seen some big improvements in my cycling from hard work I put in in Aug and Sept, so I'd hate to lose it because of an enforced layoff. I'm looking on the bright side that a couple of weeks break from training will probably do me far more good than harm, but don't want any longer than that because I want to start training again for next year.

Judging by the link, it seems the average recovery is just under two weeks - I reckon you should be OK if you gave yourself a week off to recover and then start slowly with swimming, indoor cycling and some treadmill running for a week, stopping whenever you felt like it. Then start your normal training regime. Good time to do it, I suppose - no IMs coming up!
