Drat,
well done Daz ----we must be able to beat him at something Rolling Eyes
--got it --can you fence Daz Question I've got foils and "kit" up in the loft, swords at dawn, be prepared to be besten (now you'll say you were county champion in the past, were as I was only the novice Cambridgshire ladies county champion and runner up the year before that, --then had to fence with the "big boys" and plummetted!!)

Damn - middle of the pack again, that seems to be the story of my sporting life Crying or Very sad

Actually had I not picked that effing Donkey Ricky Hatton last week then I may have nicked bronze off Chiefy. But then I guess that's sport....so many ifs, buts and maybes Very Happy

Well what a show that was last night - by far and away the best of the series in my book. Not just because of the close finish but the calibre of athlete was definitely higher than in the mens heats and the women seemed to take it more seriously. I got the impression that some of the men were just there for a laugh (Hatton - I mean you).

A big hand has to go to Annabel Croft - amazing, mother of three and not in full training like some of the other ladies. Also the snowboarder was superb too - did you see those squat thrusts, incredible. I thought Leanda did well and won the events I thought she would ie the 800m and the cycling. The trouble with the Superstars format though is that the events are biased against endurance athletes like Leanda or Liz McColgan and favour the explosive athletes like Zoe Baker.

Still a great show though. Guess we should make picks for the men's final?

Baxter fo me too - never knew who he was but was well impressed. Reckon he'll blow away the competition by winning three of the events. Ladies were great entertainment - open all the way and the cycling was nail-biting (I was rooting for the wee Scot snowboarder).

Encore, s'il vous plait, Mr BBC fat controller!

BTW, Daz - can you tape the final for me? Somehow I don't think it's gripping audiences in the caribbean!

What was up with Leanda though. Was she carrying an injury?

18 seconds in the 100m! Even the fat kids at school could do that. And 2:31 for the 800m - I somehow think she could run a lot faster than that.

i agree this heat was waaay better...

perhaps cos like the original series (so i'm told Wink ) there were _current_ athletes like leanda, the snowboarder, & marshal arts bird. Whereas all the men made me think 'hmm haven't seen him for a few years!'.

was there any reason the ref felt compelled to stand directly behind lenada during the squat thrusts ? quite a beanpole ain't she Cool

I thought Leanda's tennis was funny, she looked uncomfortable with a tool in her hand.

I'm glad the snowboarder girl, called LESLEY McKENNA, did so well - people think snowboarding is not really sport you need to be fit in. She proved that she had good all round fintess.

I thought Miss Cave would do better on the MTB

Ah, Chirpa's in the medals!!!! Cool...

I'm thinking Du'aine Ladejo for the final. Though Baxter looked very, very good.

I agree Leanda wasn't trying in the 100m. (It was the same time as her hamstring injury). She ran about as fast as she did in the 800ms! (She looked like a new born foal trying to walk, when she played tennis. All angles and limbs!)
