Set features live footage spanning all four decades of their career
Over two hours of unreleased material, including a rare performance of entire seven-part version of '2112'
Three unreleased tracks from the 1974 vault
Plus Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

2014 marks the 40th anniversary of the release of Rush's eponymous debut album in 1974. This superb collector's box set brings together live performances by Rush from each decade of their career. It includes “Rush In Rio”, “R30”, “Snakes & Arrows Live”, “Time Machine 2011: Live In Cleveland” and “Clockwork Angels Tour” plus a bonus disc of previously unseen and unreleased live material stretching from 1974 to 2013.

To the delight of fans, the bonus disc will include all 8 songs from the Laura Secord Secondary School show in 1974 which features original drummer John Rutsey. That recording includes 2 Rush originals “I've Been Runnin'” and “The Loser”, as well as their cover of Larry Williams' “Bad Boy”, made famous by The Beatles. The bonus discs also features 5 songs from songs from the Capitol Theatre in 1976 such as “Anthem” and “Lakeside Park”, the rarely performed full, 7-part version of “2112” filmed in 1997 in their hometown of Toronto, “Lock and Key” from the Hold Your Fire tour, as well as footage from the glorious evening when Rush fans got their beloved band inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Rush are renowned for the energy and excitement of their live concerts and this set brings together some of their finest performances. The 10 DVD (or 6 Blu-ray) discs are contained in a stunning 52 page hardback book measuring 305mm x 225mm with the 10 discs contained in 5 additional rigid insert pages each holding two discs. The 52 pages of the book are filled with memorabilia and photographs documenting 40 years of Rush live in concert. This is the ultimate collection of Rush live performances, beautifully presented.

Any news on when they are next touring? They are talking about Spring 2015 but I think in the US and Canada only.

Three of my five are 1, 2 and 3 Smile

Incidentally, my company has a new CEO and he's Canadian. As he sits in my office the other day, my mobile goes off, with the opening few seconds of 'Spirit of Radio' sounding from its ringtone.

He says 'oh, you're a Rush fan?'

"Am I a Rush fan?" says I. "Seriously, you have no idea."

Well, it turns out he sort-of knew the guys, they played at his High School as he was brought up in Toronto and is the same age as the trio. After I sent him this link (http://www.rush.com/ive-been-runnin/) which was, by coincidence posted up the next day, he subsequently emailed me:

Quote:
I grew up in Burlington, Neal is from Port Dalhousie, which is effectively St. Catherine’s and the other two are from Willowdale, which is close to North York. They are legend in Southern Ontario, so everyone knows where they came from. The other two bands they used to associate with on the High-School circuit were Max Webster and Saga. M-W had a few Canadian hits, but he was a bit weird to look at, and ironically Pop’ish in musical style. Although, he and Rush collaborated on a couple of albums, in fact I think all three members of Rush appeared on one of Max Webster’s albums, don’t remember which one. Saga were similar to Rush but with more keyboards and better vocals. Great time and place to grew up! All three played my high school (Nelson) in Burlington.

Saga hits: Wind him up, Don’t be late, Humble stance – probably available on iTunes or YouTube
Max Webster: Paradise Skies, Patio lanterns, Diamonds Diamonds, A million vacations, Gravity (I liked that one)…

Awesome Laughing

What a fantastic CEO, would love to have him come and work for us.

An appreciation for Rush is the mark of some one's character in my view.

Enjoying a Rush Renaissance lately.

Picked up a load of the live albums in a burst of completist zeal. I'm loving A Show of Hands, the songs have a little more life in the live versions when released from the studio shackles.

Also just started reading Ghost Rider. Very moving and well written.

Anyone else tempted for the full house ? I was thinking of skipping the Live albums but that's just irrational ( & Rush fans are definitely NOT irrational)

Latest Rumours from http://www.rushisaband.com/

The Rush 2015 tour rumor mill kicked into high gear a couple of weeks ago when Ticketmaster and Live Nation briefly listed 2 tour stops for Rush - a June 23rd concert at the TD Garden in Boston, and a June 29th show at Madison Square Garden in New York City (both listings have since been removed). These listings lent support to other rumors regarding Rush shows being planned for June in Columbus, Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit and St. Louis, along with an early August show in Las Vegas. I now also have a few dates to go along with those cities (see below), although these are definitely subject to change and NOT confirmed/official. I'd also recently gotten word from reader Wes W who claims that the BOK Center in Tulsa had a listing for a July 19th Rush show posted to their website briefly although I haven't been able to independently confirm this (no screenshot either unfortunately). Reader Stephen A let me know that local promoter Jim Koplik was a guest on 99.1 WPLR in New Haven yesterday morning and at one point hinted that Rush would be playing in the New Haven, CT area at some point later in the summer. Note that there's a truncated podcast of his appearance on the show on WPLR's website which does NOT include the mention of Rush. There have also been a few tweets from folks in the Rush camp over the last couple of weeks that tend to lend support to an impending Rush tour as well. Back on December 30th Neil Peart drum tech Lorne Wheaton tweeted out the following:

Hope everyone had a great Holiday season, and WILL have a safe & Happy New Year!! See u all in the new year...oops, did I just say that?

Followed up by this tweet a couple of hours later:

Just to clarify my last twit.....I don't always work with NP. There ARE other drummers/bands on my resume. I ain't giving nutin up...copy?

Last week soon-to-be Hall of Fame baseball pitcher and photographer Randy Johnson - who also happens to be good buddies with Geddy Lee - was asked by a fan via Twitter if Rush had asked him to photograph the band's next tour. Here's what he said:

Already am RT @SuzakutwoLee: @RJ51Photos if @rushtheband asked you to do photos on their next tour (hope) would under you do it?

Then over the weekend Donna Halper suggested that Rush would tour albeit in shorter segments via this tweet:

Rush will tour but perhaps in short segments. After all, the guys are getting older; plus Neil doesn't wanna be away from his kid too long.

And just yesterday a painter at DW Drums posted a photo to his personal Facebook page of the riser they are making for Neil Peart's new drumkit (thanks TEJager910). The photo doesn't reveal much and just shows the solid black riser deck. Since it's his personal FB page, I can't post the actual photo or name the painter, but it's definitely legit. No surprise there since Neil will obviously need a new kit if they tour; the Time Machine kit was officially retired back in November which set off this series of tweets from Lorne Wheaton:

Nov 9 - Guess it's time Bubba & I started to think about a new kit. :0) The "Time Machine" is officially retired after next weekend.

Nov 9 - C'mon.....Slingerland, Tama......LUDWIGS???? Use you're imagination folks!!! We will... maybe a classier design, like a fine exotic ride?

Nov 10 - That's the last time I mention anything. Talk about a #@?# storm!!!! Tama, multiple kits...abstract blah blah..You'll all see it in 2015.

So there you have it! Despite all this evidence pointing to a tour, we STILL have not received any official confirmation from the one source that counts - Rush themselves. So until then, consider all of this information as rumor/speculation, and have some fun with it. Here's a rundown of the rumored cities/dates so far:

Columbus, OH (6/Cool
Buffalo, NY (6/10)
Chicago, IL (6/12)
Detroit, MI (6/14)
Boston, MA - TD Garden (6/23) - briefly listed at TM/LN
New York, NY - Madison Square Garden (6/29) - briefly listed at TM/LN
St. Louis, MO (6/??)
Tulsa, OK - BOK Center (7/19) - allegedly briefly listed at BOK Center website
Las Vegas, NV (8/1)
Hartford/New Haven, CT (??) - toward end of summer according to promoter Jim Koplik

Surely they can't forget us, especially given how long this great thread has been running. Even Mrs Lambert has agreed to come along this time. Very Happy
