I did Llanberis in 2002 and thought the location was great. I would like to see it go back there and become a full IM distance. I would change it from Sept as it was then to July. Just my thoughts.

Oi, TriandRun! Nooo!

If you want a July ironman, try TLD! Bringing IMUK to July would be like Ironman Germany being put against Quelle Roth, trying the crush the independent races. (Oh, hang on. They tried that.)

Grrrrrr! Evil or Very Mad

Plus the water in July would be even colder!

I don't belive IMUK would crush TLD, as that is now a well established and liked race... I know for one i will do it even if IMUK gose full,

you got to to rememebr that would still only be 2 full distance races in the uk...sorry there is one in scotland as well don't know it's name though

That's Aberfeldy, although I think it alternates full and half every year.

I agree - I don't think a IMUK would have any affect on the LD. The LD seems to have quite a strong following and both races have many differences, not least the price and course profiles. I actually think many people wishing to do their first ironman would side with the Longest Day.

An IMUK would cost a fair bit and the course would be a lot less forgiving than that of the Longest Day.

I have to say I enjoyed both Llanberis and Sherborne and couldn't choose between the two of them, they both had positives and negatives. Great views on the Llanberis course though, especially up to Bedgelert and running up and down the Llyn Padarn Pass Embarassed Embarassed Shocked Embarassed Shocked Embarassed Evil or Very Mad

Just filled in my form last night for HIMUK 2004. Can't believe I didn't know about the form earlier. Mad panic stations last night.

Wonder how quickly this one will fill out!
Think it was full by Jan last year, but they mentioned weeks this time!

would love to do a half and eventually a full IM, but going to stick with Oly distance next year as thats a big enough step up for me. Hopefully then a half in 2005 and a full in 2006. I'm convinced that I will only ever do one full, so much as TLD is supposed to be a wonderful race I want to do my one Ironman somewhere exotic - maybe Switzerland, or Florida and combine it with a Disneyland trip for the kids or something. We'll see - my shins will probably be shot to bits by then anyway but it's nice to hope and have a goal to aim for.

Booked my ski-ing holiday today so I'm a happy bunny. Very Happy
