Well done to every one who turned up at Steyning this morning!!!
It was sunny when I turned up and under an inch of snow by the time I was suppossed to be in the pool!
I knew I should have done the long course! At least I would have got a bike ride. It was a shame the Bike got binned for some of the sprint competitors, but completely understand the race organisers decision!!!

that is terrifying! what happened then, were some people racing on the bike in that snowstorm?

that is my planet X SL (white ) got half way into the bike when the snow started to really hit hard (kind of regretted my oakley M frames ), spent the last half of the bike singing songs to myself (and marshalls) whilst not really being able to see where i was going! i really regret only going out on the bike with only a tri-suit and the option of arm warmers, i tried to get on the arm warmers half way round the bike and could only get one on due to hands being too cold and not able to control the bike properly
the run was fooking harsh and i was having some real issues with the cold, my heart rate on the run never got over 154 and averaged 149bpm!!! usually able to hold over 180!
crossing the line i was fooked couldn't feel my face and couldn't talk as my mouth was so numb. it took me 10 mins in the pool and 10 min in a hot shower to feel almost normal though stepping out of the shower my hands wouldn't stop shaking! i don't know but think i was slightly hypothermic.
my high placing was due to the fact that all the fast people in the pool after me were told that the run had been canceled due to weather and hence did not complete the event, i got out on the run before that happened
race organisers were great and DID look after there competitors really well

I had to keep rubbing my head for the first part of the Sprint run to stop getting an 'ice cream' headache...
Did get a bit disconcerted as I looked behind me and could see no other runners, not sure if the organisers made everyone else put more stuff on. I just went for it in my tri-suit (at least it had short-sleeves!)
Didn't hang around afterwards to see my time cos it was so fricken cold, just wanted to get home and into the bath.
One of my co Herbalife Triathlon Academy team mates did this (Nick Clements) and finished this race this morning - he came 3rd and said not many crossed the line.

WN, 36k in a tri suit in that, big balls ( well they will be once they thaw out ) is all I can say. I was entered, forgot all about it until midnight last night, when I got a sudden urge to check the dates and was a little shocked the race date was today, slightly pi$%ed at that point, and hadn't got any gear ready, set the alarm, but stayed in bed, been feeling guilty/wimpy all day, until I saw your picture! Well done on second.

that is a brilliant photo.
fair play whitenoise, you win 'mentalist' of the year award for racing in that.... trisuit and armwarmers?? it was cold enough at IMUK!!

I had entered this, but family crisis intervened so had to be elsewhere yesterday. I'm injured and was contemplating doing just the swim and bike and deciding on the day if I would or could do the run....
