I've seen a few posts for the Barcelona IM, but is anyone doing the Barcelona Tri on 5 Oct 08? Anyone done it before? I fancy it and it looks like it's central Barcelona.

Thanks

I'm not doing it this year, but after visiting Barcelona last month I managed to persuade Mrs P&B that it would be easier (and cheaper) to get to Barcelona than London, so count me in for 2009 Cool

Thinking of doing it in 2009, have not seen it for 2008. Looks flat. Its not in Barcelona in 2009 it in Calella (think thats how spelt. which is 50k from Barcelona or so it said. If its the Quelle challange one your talking about.

Me and the missus fancy doing this as well

Cheap flights + reasonable accommodation and the event isn't too expensive Smile

Hi all, this is the one I mean...

www.barcelonatriathlon.com

....and according to that site, it's right in the centre of Barcelona, which should be spectactular. Choice of sprint or Olympic distance.

The Barcelona triathlon is smack in the middle of the town centre. A sea swim which can be a little unpredictable, but the ride and run is pancake flat.

The Challenge Barcelona MD and IM races are completely different and are about 60km from Barcelona. There is a thread on here started by GravyDavey.

I am doing all 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I've entered. It's by IMG the people who organise the London tri. I think is it's inaugural year, but could be wrong, could just the first year IMG are involved. Looking forward to it!!! What a place to end the season.

Is there anybody who is going who knows Barcelona, and where is good to stay etc?

Cheers

Right, I'm in. Just trying to sort the travel. The flight back to Leeds Bradford I am thinking of on Sunday will require me to be at Barcelona Airport at 3.40pm, so I'm wondering if anyone has seen any start time for this? It does say on the site that it's an 'all start together' race - ie no phased start - but I can't find a start time. Anyone else find one, or otherwise know of the likely start time.

Need to work out if I can do it, based on my predictably slow time, pack bike in case, and get to airport in time. Otherwise I need to book an extra nights hotel and fly back on the Monday.

Hmm.

Looks to be nice hotels there though....

I think that's a different Barca Tri (It's 2009 for one thing....).

By the way on timing, I got an email from the organisers, where they state they are starting at 8.30am and will be finished by 2pm. So plenty of time to get to the airport and get the flight back to LDS/BFD on the Sunday.

Pity I hadn't just booked my (non-refundable) hotel room for Sunday already... I'm too impatient. Still, can have a nice look round the city I guess, and a leisurely return home....
