Okay so who;s in for this then??

http://www.usmevents.com.au/goldcoastitu/index.html

I live just up the road from the event so if anybody would like some local knowledge I'll do all that I can to help. Might even be able to help sort out airport collections and accomodation if required...

If I can get a spot on the NZ AG sprint team then I'm considering it (don't think I'll be good enough to make the standard team), to be honest I'm just going for the party!

I take it that we want to fly to Coolongata and not Brissy?

Andy, whats the NZ qualifier for the sprint- Kinloch? I may do that, and the National standard too. Doubt I'd qualify for either though....
Left too late to get into Tauranga so missed out on Perth and long distance.

Either is good. Both are about equal distance from Southport which is where the champs will be.

For those looking at hanging around for some decent training in good weather then staying in Southport isn't a bad idea. It's wear I do all my training and will happily put on sessions making the most of the local resources. I'll even be able to get some rides arranged with some of our local celebrities...

Yeah, it's usually Kinloch for the sprint. No idea what standard would be needed to get in, with it being in Oz I'm expecting standards to be high and I'll be in the middle of Ironman training (excuses in early). I'll just do it for fun as otherwise I'll do one of Yepoon or Singapore halfs next winter I guess.

No idea what would be needed for the Standard qualifier at all in terms of time.

Hey Sav, how come you might qualify early?

I'm aiming to qualify for this next year. After the disappointment of Vancouver I need something to restore my faith in the World Championships...

The Irish pre qualification race was Dublin this year - I satisfied the criteria and the application's gone in - offers go out on 1st November. I'm relying on the aussies not to have a duathlon - I'm also tempted by the aquathlon which will be on the Wednesday before the Tri on the Sunday.

This has got to be a 'must' - even if I do have to mortgage the house again to get there. Quite impressed with the amount of detail on the event web site already - clearly after this year's problems the organisers are determined to show that they know how to run an event of this size.

I've pre qualified for the sprint (being a medal winner in Vancouver),but I have also raced the Long Course champs the past 2 years. This year the Long course is in Perth, Australia where my best mate from school days lives.
2 trips to Oz are out of the question but cant make my mind up what event to do.

I've got this one down as a goal for next year too, just a shame that all the qualifiers are so far from me.

Conan - do you know how easy it would be to hire a half decent bike in advance before travelling over there and where from?

Looking to probably travel with family and make a decent holiday of it so looking to save taking my bike over there but still have something reasonable to race on.
