I've pre qualified for the sprint (being a medal winner in Vancouver),but I have also raced the Long Course champs the past 2 years. This year the Long course is in Perth, Australia where my best mate from school days lives.
2 trips to Oz are out of the question but cant make my mind up what event to do.
Go for the Long Course. I am aiming to qualify for the sprint and that will then leave an extra place _________________ www.colinbradley.blogspot.com

Conan - do you know how easy it would be to hire a half decent bike in advance before travelling over there and where from?
Looking to probably travel with family and make a decent holiday of it so looking to save taking my bike over there but still have something reasonable to race on.
At this stage I have nothing to offer. As the event gets closer though I'm sure companies will start to cotton on to race bike hire. I'll keep my eyes posted.
As to the venue - Vancouver will get shown up!! The GC in global terms is small fry but they LOVE this sort of thing. Road resurfacing works has allready begun as has the FULL redevelopment of the race venue and I expect them to have the entire bike course as sealed hotmix so seriously fast. Road closures are easy here so expect the bike course to be closed off and each direction will have a full car lane and shoulder. Not sure exactly where the bike is going to go but it will be flat and wind exposed so TT setup all the way. The swim is going to be in the water way so there will be sharks but they'll not go near the swimmers I promise (as much as I can). The run will be along the water way somewhere and should be hot with little shade... The after party will be something else!!!!!

we're planning to do the same thing. and with twins, double push chair and car seats a bike as well looks like it will be too much.
Last time i took the took the tri bike to oz i air freighted it back via a Brisbane company. You can rent cars with car seats easily in brisbane. we normally get a taxi from the airport to a hotel for a much needed nap and then pick up a hire car when we need it.
we're actually heading off on a 6 month sabbatical, with a month in western australia first, so the bike is going to be just one thing too many i think, with 2 year old twins as well

You mean the swim will be in the inland lagoon type bit? Bull sharks? They don't eat people, just dogs which randomly go missing whilst being walked. _________________ Results - twitter

Im in Aus in Feb for the Geelong 70.3 followed by a couple weeks in Sydney - obviously, an expensive trip and a long way to go - what are the packages like for a trip over to these champs with the GB teams?? I know my company will help out financially and with holiday time but do they tend to be good value - how much was vancouver for example??
