Anyone got knowledge/suggestions for York/North Yorkshire?

I've seen what floats in the Ouse, so not too keen on that.

(Any takers of going for a swim?)

Durham and Cleveland Tri clubs train at Ellerton Park lake near Scorton, South of Scotch Corner on the A1 - might be a bit far North for you but I used to travel 50miles to swim there a while back.

I'm sure I remember something around Dinnington/Elvington somewhere, but I can't find the thread. I tried searching for the White Rose tri club (who I think use it) but couldn't get anything there either. Every time I search on Elvington I get lambertsimnel's posts... Rolling Eyes

I'm going to have to take a rain check sadly Smitters. I don't have a car and my training buddy can't make it this Sunday, but I'll look out next time I'm there. I'm having a family get together in Swindon the following weekend and I'm trying to convince them that nice stroll around the lake on the Sunday would be a good idea. I'll just conveniently have my wetsuit in my handbag
Very Happy They don't seem convinced though Crying or Very sad

BTW, smitters: just saw a post about The Delph Quarry as another venue ...

I have found out today that The delph Quarry Eccleston where we used to swim allows open water swimmers/ triathletes to swim any time 9-5 7 days a week with the quarry open late on Wednesday til 9,

HOWEVER..... the session is un coached one and as requires 2 swimmers in the water together for safety

Tallington Lakes, near Stamford, Lincs has an open water session on Wednesday evening.

Not been down to this session yet, but did a race here many years ago, and the water was crystal clear

Details are as follows

"At Tallington Lakes Leisure Park, near Stamford, we are currently offering Open Water Swimming sessions in one of our Lakes. It runs on Wednesday evenings from 5pm-8pm and people can turn up anytime during the session and swim for however long as they would like during this time. It is 5 per session or 40 for 10 sessions.

Ooooh. Honoured. A stickie. Pleased it looks useful. About time I put something back.

Now, if I can just stop worrying about exactly what "the treatment" is...

Can recommend Tallington Lakes, been in there for the last 3 weeks, hopefully its warming up as was 13deg last week, but it is crystal clear and very quiet, normally the only ones in there. The only downer is the 25 speed bumps to get round the park to the lake.

Also members of Stamford Tri Club can swim there on a Thurday night 5pm - 8pm for 4.00 Very Happy
