Hi..maths never being my strongest subject..

Which is the lowest gearing ie would get me furthest up a steep hill..

Chainwheel 30, cassette 27( Motobecane with granny ring)
OR
Chainwheel 34 , cassette 32..

BTW - rode the former ratio last Saturday in Tour de Flanders, but didnt want to risk my No 1 bike Pl X N2A..Was delighted that several of the pro riders also engaged in "hike a bike "..made me feel much better..

Thanks in anticipation !

34x32 is lower by about 5%

Unlikely to make a decisive difference on actually getting up a short hill.

Front divided by rear gives you how far the rear will turn per one rotation of the front. The more rear turn, the further the distance travelled, the harder it is uphill.

So 30/27 vs 34/32. Low number is good.

ta guys..Well, Big G sportive takes in a 1.5 mile climb @14%...Tour de Yorkshire should have had it included last year !
Am Vintage AG so every little helps !
32/34 is on my Pl X which is about 1kg lighter than my aluminium Motobecane..
Am riding my N2A this Sunday up that climb so will see what the difference is...
Thanks again Grunta
