Today my mind is saying a June IM is too early. It still not light enough in the evenings to get a good ride in and weather dependant getting a ride in the mornings. And then it's only a 35k ride, not a distance testing endurance ride! Weekend weather isn't always good for a ride, take this weekend for example.

Clocks go forward next weekend so we'll call that beginning of April for arguments sake. That gives me April and May to increase my distance on the bike and be comfortable with 100 mile rides. Do you think that's asking a lot?

I'm not worried about the swim as I can do that at swim club on a Sunday night or running as I can run fairly safely in the dark.

Blimey, you people are so jumpy! Rolling Eyes I didn't say I'm pulling out. I'm sharing my concerns so I can get things straight. It's obviously possible as Cornish Ironman has done IMF, just wondered how people get around it. Fitting in 12 hours/week training during the winter must be difficult.

Not sure I could handle too much work on the turbo. Doing 90 minutes is a real mental test for me. Maybe I'll have to fork out for a lot more winter clothing and get a bit braver!

Maybe I should get up to race distance by Autumn this year and just try and sustain it during winter? Wonder if that would be too much work, sustaining IM distances for 9 months? Or build up this year, let it fall back a little during winter then build for spring. Dunno, but needs to be thought about. Of course I'll be a lot fitter at the end of the year anyway so maybe I won't be concerned at all.

Sue, I'm sorry about your pen.

I've not told my other half yet! Guess I'll be dropped to level seven Hell for that.

Hopefully, if I do OK (ie, not need ambulance support) at HIMUK, she'll be OK with IMF. Sounds like a plan doesn't it!

How about, if I finish before you then you tell the woman what we've planed. If you finish before me then we'll keep quiet about it? Or maybe I should make that the other way around. Hang on, I'll look at last years results.......

Oh, 1:30 for the run. Reverse that. Very Happy

Wasn't it you who did the run in 1:30? Maybe it was Darryl.

I have no idea what times I'll be doing any even it yet. Filling out the entry forms is a test of my creativity!
