Don't worry doug, I've never raced either! (we definately need a smiley for a nut case/lunatic). My targets looked similar a few months ago: this year: sprint/olympic, next year: olympic/half-ironman, 06: full ironman but things change.

Take a look:

Event: http://www.ironmanfrance.com/Anglais/index.htm
Village: http://www.gerardmer.net/
Region: http://www.lorraine.fr/english.asp

Maybe it's important to think about how much you enjoy training? I certainly do and could quite easily train 10-12 hours during the spring/summer (as I did during last summer/autumn). If I build up to that again, which I have every intension of doing, might as well have structure and aim. I'm going to enjoy the whole IM experience, starting very soon.

My plan is pretty much the same as Doug's.

This year:
- run half marathon
- sprint and oly tris.

Next year
- run marathon
- half IM

2006 if all is well and good
- TLD Exclamation

I did TLD 2003, and I'm training for TLD 2004, but if it's possible, I'd like to be part of the IM France 2005 group.

The TriTalkers shall take over!

Yeah, and I'll hit the biiiiiiggggg 50 in April. Triathlon, do it, you actually look forward to getting old! Extrapolating the data, eg, my rate of slowing down with age, I have calculated that when I'm 80 I will be able to finish an oly distance race in approximately 2hrs 40mins 34.99998secs. World champion or what!
