I'm in. Feel special being only 1 of a 100. Cool This might be one for the road bike over the TT.

I am planning to run the marathon on the 11th August (just for fun, not as a relay). What time are people likely to be finishing? Would be nice to get to Studland in time to see the Jurassic-Mentalists crossing the line!

Anybody ridden the bike course? Ideas if its tougher than the brutal? Trying to decide TT or road bike. Not that it'll make a big difference - still expect to be plodding round after dark.

See you in Devon/Dorset/wherever.

Done bits of it and some of the general area during the Wiggle Jurassic Beast and also the tour of Wessex. If I was doing it I would be on my road bike with compact chainset / low gearing. Of my 3 friends that are entered 2 have a choice of bike and both are going for the 'comfort option'.

What bike for us supporters though ? Road so I can get around to cheer on the bike course or MTB to stand more of a chance of getting to different points of the run. Might well be better of doing something similar to KP and jogging the run course in reverse (Lulworth towards Studland) until I come across the nutters coming the other way.

Can't believe that this race is on. Just see Toyota Crown refer to it on another thread and looked it up. I am down that way with family staying on bike route although no chance of racing.

I am sure it is shown somewhere but what time does swim start? If I can pop along to Seaton near where I am staying, will try to give some of you a cheer and pinch TC's backside when you go past on bike.

Regards your query about road bike v TT. I know the first half of this bike course really well as been staying in this area regularly with relatives over many years so have biked a lot of it. I ride my TT bike on things like Helvellyn but I would definitely want a road bike on this. It is a no brainer.

Not just for regular sharp hills but some of these are narrow country lanes with grass and gravel on the roads as little used. Personally, I would always want to be near my brakes as very high hedgerows too which are really close to you so little reaction time if you are on TT bike.

Stick some tri bars on a road bike is way to go in my opinion.

Good luck.

Does not matter what time it is as TC will turn up late, in a panic and having forgotten something.

We saw Chopsy, he was covered in Oil !

And I had the pleasure of seeing TC go past as well Smile

That didn't quite go to plan! Set off from Lulworth at 8:30am. Had forgotten how brutal that first few miles east of Lulworth was. Nice way to end the race Twisted Evil Coast path closed at kimmeridge and spent ages faffing about trying to find the diversion. Got back on track at Kingston and then got hopelessly lost in the Pit of satan that is Chapmans Pool. Ending up stumbling round stubble fields before ending up back in sodding Kingston! Ffs.
Walked via roads to worth then got back on the path to swanage. Saw number 29 looking incredibly strong in Durlston country park. Got onto the beach and saw I had been running for 24 miles. That was frankly enough for me! So I stayed there giving a shout to whoever I saw, including the denimed one.

Serious serious respect to anyone who did that today. Or even tried it. It's mental. Cool Cool
