Saw a short film from Billy Yang last night that implies he has a couple of new features coming out (hopefully) soon.

Sweet. I've just signed up to Netflix too, so I can finally watch that Barkley film.

It's a tough watch but amazing at the same time.

Has anyone see the Nepalese FKy one with Ryno Griesel and Ryan Sandes yet? That's supposed to be pretty sweet.

Want to start next year with some small fell races and build up to bigger ones. Anyone got some good recommendations? Preferably in the peak district, purely as that is closest to me. Lakes & Dales are a long way to go for 5-10k run Smile

Don't mind if they are hard, or require nav (been on a training course for map and compass). Plenty to chose from out there so which are good, and which are welcoming of outsiders and noobs?

Yes , worth a watch - I was in Nepal last month trekking to Base Camp what they did was just amazing.

Also recommend Kilian Jornet's Path To Everest.

If you don't get in in years 1 and 2 you are guaranteed in for year 3.

Then if you DNF you need to get the points again and re-do the ballot (ahem).

No - you still need to have the necessary number of qualifying points in year 3 - the points after a race only last for 2 years if I recall correctly

ah, that's my mis-reading / mis-understanding then

Have a look on the FRA website, they have a calendar on there and you can see the locations they are, quite a few in the peak district.

I've done some of the classics in the Lake district, worth doing when you get a bit more experience but unless you've walked\ran round there before you might find them different to your local ones.

I do a lot in North Yorkshire but most of ours aren't much more than trails with no long ascents\descents, and a lot less craggy than the lakes. They tend to be up and down regularly rather than say 4 miles up, 4 miles down.

Only downside of some of them is that you need to provide evidence of long races (and the mandatory kit).

But something like Fairfield Horseshoe is probably worth travelling for

Not sure if this was posted earlier, but it has made the Beeb- for mostly the wrong reasons
