My raining is very heavily bike focused. I'm not planning on doing an IM (or any triathlon really) next year, but I am doing the Cape Rouleur in South Africa in March with HotChillee and I'm ride captaining the fast group, so I need to be in good shape for that.

The 5-ish hour bike ride on Sunday helps the overall total Wink . I do that sort of distance for my long ride fairly consistently through the year, I either ride it solo or with mates who aren't as strong as me, so either way I end up riding hard on the front for at least 4 hours of the ride. No sitting in a bunch, chatting Wink .

Running is mainly short runs in my lunch break and is a good head-clearer.

I usually have up to 2 hours per week of commuter cycling, which I include for completeness but I don't really consider it to be training. It's 5-6km/15 minutes each way into the City and there's about 20 sets of lights on the way. I usually expect to hit at least half of those on red and I ride a fixie (48x16), so every time I stop I have about 20 revs of hard work to get the gear spinning again and then it's high cadence work to keep moving at a decent pace. The only "hill" on the route is Southwark Bridge Rolling Eyes . I'm more interested in getting to the other end in one piece than I am in trying to get any real training benefit out of it.

The rest of my riding mid week is either on the Wattbike or spin classes at the gym. The spin classes are taught by "real" cyclists (i.e. not like those adds for the Peloton classes) and are based on power zones, so I think they are reasonably good training.

Until next week that is! February is also looking a bit sketchy with work and Half Term too.

I'm going to be down a bit on usual this week because I've got a couple of days of travelling and family commitments and if I do get out for a ride on Sunday it'll be shorter than usual.

I've currently got a pass to do lots of riding next week while I'm up north, so weather permitting I could end up clocking up quite a big week. I'll probably even manage my traditional early Christmas morning run - that's normal, right? Rolling Eyes Wink

Ugh, what a miserable week to do my first 5-day commute in ages. This morning the headwind was so strong, I was in the granny ring on the flat Evil or Very Mad I've gotten rained on every day too. I can feel my powers ebbing away today.

Tying to cram in a big week before the break! I need a few days off after this week tbh.

About the only sessions I've been smashing out the last week involve Guinness.

Done a few runs, but after finishing work yesterday (followed by guess what) I'm hoping I can get a few days in before going to Budapest next week.

Hoping for a couple of longer 2-3 hour bike rides, I think the longest I've ridden since the IM in America is about 2 hours.

Generally trying to get a bit of running in for the half I've got in January.

One bonus is that the nights will eventually start getting lighter Smile

I managed to finish the Festive500 last week, which helped my Strava totals Wink .

I'm back in the office today and year end reporting is about to kick off, so I think my training opportunities are going to be curtailed over the next week or so....
