I've seen a few suggestions that a tri top / suit that covers the shoulders is more aero. Plus, it does have some sun-blocking advantage which is quite a plus too.

In the true spirit of marginal gains, and pissing money up the wall for the smallest of wattage savings, anyone know of any out there? A quick google brings up broadly the same singlets with 'aero' in the name.

I got an ironman tri suit four or five years ago with short sleeves. I reverted to using short sleeve compression tops, with tri shorts.

But in the true spirit of "google" you could always pi$$ away you money on something like this

If you really want to go the whole hog, castelli also do a long sleeved tri top called the Stealth T1 Tri. Cheaper than the suit shown above too, so you won't be pi$$ing it all away

Duathlon outfits sometimes come with a full top and I think the rowing community might have them as well.

Ok, I'll bite. What attribute does the suit have to make it less air resistant than skin ?

Or is it your "wolf man" shoulders?

That fusion top looks nice - how does it perform under a wetsuit? And I'm guessing you run separate shorts with it?

Never had issues under mine

I use their Tri shorts as well. I change into either a Tri top or t-shirt in T2 for the run. Only use it for HIM and IM, although I did stick it on for a duathlon in T1 but I wasn't fussed about time there.

+1 I find it's really handy for colder races as well as hot races and no issues wearing it under a wetsuit.
I have always removed it in T2 as I think it would get hot running in it.

I've had a look at the new fusion suit as well. Another very nice piece of kit..
