Stage 3: Tour of fire and Ice - April 9th or 10th
Distance: 25.1km (15.6 mi) Elevation: 1166m (3827)
Stage 2 last night, 50 mins at 99% FTP had the legs wobbling. Now for an easier few days. |
I'm level 15 (and a half ), I might give it a shot on the weekend but hoping to get out for a real world ride.
Thinking of doing C grade Hilly Vanilli tonight, not sure yet as the time is 7.35 now

Unfortunately I'm only Level 8, so have to make do with Zwift Mountain for now. I rode up to the mast from both sides on Monday, then did a brick run! I'm finding Zwift a good motivator.
I'm off work on paid leave and don't start my new job until 11th June, so spending more time on Zwift than Tri Talk for sure You should see more of me once I'm chained to a desk again though

When you get to level 10 you can access the Jungle Loop, which I really enjoy doing. I bailed on the ST ride tonight, 7.35 is a bit too late for me to start a long ride.

Wow, uncanny I run my Zwift bike in TT mode with 808s anyway, and am happy to stick with that but the gloves seemed like little reward!

Did an interval session on the rollers last night using Powertap wheel and Veloreality software.
It wasn't a particularly hard session but the extra concentration of balancing on the rollers and keeping the power at the right level without Erg mode made for a really good workout.
Turbo is packed away for the "summer" now but with the ease of set up on the rollers I might keep these going for a bit of variety.

Just started one of the 12 week training plans - the Build Me Up plan. Lots of sweetspot and threshold work.
I had an FTP of 285 last July which dropped to 240 after a long layoff. Back up to 255 at the start last week so hoping to get close to the 285 again by the end of the 12 weeks.

Still yet to summit the Alpe, I'm thinking about doing an hour at threshold on the turbo this weekend so will give it a go!

I'm on Zwift and loving it. I didn't think I;d get back into cycling but this is just what I need. In the space of 3 weeks I'v gone from 265-300ftp. Races are great. Anyone a regular user and doing the Innsbruck series?

A race was the first thing I tried....fcuking nuts!
Not tried any of the training plans, but then they seem to require a lot of regular riding on Zwift, which I'm not wanting to do - like 5-6 times a week!

Ok, is Zwift really that good? I'm very skeptical due to the monthly cost. If they had a 10-time card like at the coffee shop I'd be much more willing to cough up but just not sure I'd use it enough.
I tend to watch series on the turbo e.g. Game of Thrones and do my own sessions while just watching that. So is Zwift this magical cross-over between training and gaming?
If so I could be in for a world of hurt...

I really rate Zwift for motivational purposes, especially when you get in volved in the races or group rides. You can have a free 40km trial so why not give it a go and see how you get on?
Tri247 do a really good weekly training session every Wednesday at 7pm - details of the previous sessions can be found here: https://www.tri247.com/triathlon-training/bike/zwift-session-dragon
