After Claire's recent and ridiculous GymQuin I wonder who is now thinking about having a great family holiday at Dorney in October....

So can someone give me a bit more info if you know it?

What is the bike course like? - Is it just round the lake or does it have dead turns in it?

And the run course? Is it the same loop? Run in the same or opposite direction to the cyclists?

Do we change direction each day?

What are people thinking of doing for accommodation? I'm not sure I want to camp and a hotel might be a bit expensive for 11 nights. Holiday Cottage? Something else? I see this sort of place caters for rowing groups http://holiday-cottages-rentals.co.uk/dorney_cottages.html

Not saying I'm doing this yet but might like to get an idea of logistics.

Hi Will, that's a good spot. only a stroll away from the finish line each night and a comfy bed

No idea on logistics of the race, but a reverse loop every day would be a top idea.

Hope you are keeping well

I'm good thanks Dave. Baby no.1 is 20 months old and we have another on the way in March. Was due to be doing Arch to Arc again this year but don't think I'll have time for training with a newborn and the toddler.

So my stupid plan is that training for a deca would be easier than A2A training since I don't have to spend so much time swimming.

So I am going to try and train for it but not enter until late on if I feel I'm
a) In with a shout of completion
b) In with a shout of being allowed to do it by Mrs Hillwall
c) Have any money left to be able to afford entry/accommodation/food

Hi. That accomodation looks great. Good job I booked it a while ago now Smile

Should be in staggering distance thankfully. I agree I didn't fancy camping. Not sure what the logistics are but assume just follows standard bike route in races such as Dorney Sprint etc. Not many options really.

Nice to see you back SJB. I did see someone had block booked some of the places and figured it must be someone entered already. Hope the training is going well, I've already thought that August Bank holiday weekend is a 3 day monster training session.

Hi fella. I've only booked Wisteria. The rest are free.

Yep training going ok. Just starting to increase the load a bit. All a bit of an unknown as to what I should be doing lol. My bike is a lot stronger than the last time I did a tri over 3 years ago so that will help.

Obviously I haven't swum for 3 years approx so thats going to plan. Smile

I'm going to do the 2 x ironmans down at AT and hit the 1st day hArd so I'm as depleted as possible for day 2. Will probably head out to Tenerife and do a week up Mont Tiede. Did it last year and it was great training
.

It's dead on here these days Sad

Still Waiting by Big Ted

One day there will be a pool
That is open for 24 hours
And swim in it I shall
As destiny draws me in

But for now, I just ride my bike
Waiting for the opportunity
The resurrection
The second coming
Biding my time, I am

Because I'm not done
Despite my hollow words
And decaying fitness
The embers still glow
My stomach tells me so
Their desire is solely this
To burn as a raging fire once more
To return to the edge of madness
To live and be alive again.

Very Happy Very Happy I'll be honest, I miss this. Very Happy Very Happy

There once was a man called Big Ted
Who after a deca he said
This is not on a whim
Never again will I swim
In the cold lake that nearly left me dead
