I've booked holiday accommodation for 11 nights a mile away from Dorney lake from 3/10/17. Is something happening while I'm there?

Funnily enough I've also a romantic weekend booked in the new forest early May too Very Happy

So can someone give me a bit more info if you know it?

What is the bike course like? - Is it just round the lake or does it have dead turns in it?

And the run course? Is it the same loop? Run in the same or opposite direction to the cyclists?

Do we change direction each day?

What are people thinking of doing for accommodation? I'm not sure I want to camp and a hotel might be a bit expensive for 11 nights. Holiday Cottage? Something else? I see this sort of place caters for rowing groups http://holiday-cottages-rentals.co.uk/dorney_cottages.html

Not saying I'm doing this yet but might like to get an idea of logistics.

I have got a cottage booked close by here, sharing with TC and another competitor. We aim to use the 4th room for crew, so I doubt there is spare capacity but do contact me if you want to check once decided what you're doing.

Still Waiting by Big Ted

One day there will be a pool
That is open for 24 hours
And swim in it I shall
As destiny draws me in

But for now, I just ride my bike
Waiting for the opportunity
The resurrection
The second coming
Biding my time, I am

Because I'm not done
Despite my hollow words
And decaying fitness
The embers still glow
My stomach tells me so
Their desire is solely this
To burn as a raging fire once more
To return to the edge of madness
To live and be alive again.

Very Happy Very Happy I'll be honest, I miss this. Very Happy Very Happy

Honoured to have your poetic grace on these pages once more.

Can't help thinking you'd be already signed up if it was continuous.

Your guidance and support on my epic journey would be much welcome

To answer the question about the course, the bike has a dead turn at the start/finish - the other end you turn through a bit of a boat/car park and head back on the same road. I did all but a couple of laps with Claire on her day 5 and I enjoyed it - no horses or tourists to have to think about. The run is up the middle between the two lakes which is going to be a mind game.

Sorry none of that rhymed, it's a modern poem.

Cheers. The really repetitive (let's admit it it's not the picturesque New Forest) course was one of the things I liked the most when thinking of entering. Disengage brain and go round again .... and repeat. I did a tri there a decade ago (my 1st) and can remember that I enjoyed the course.

Cheers Curry. I have absolutely no idea if I have any chance of being on the startline and probably not likely to know until late on.

This seems awfully organised for TC? I'm guessing it wasn't him who sorted tihs out.

Oh, I don't know. I'm kinda glad it isn't continuous, because then I'd have to make a very tough decision.

I will say this - I'm not sure anything will ever match the experience of the 10 x 1 (for me, personally) - I can't imagine a greater sense of achievement - I think about it all the time, I've not been the same person since.

I hope you guys have an equally incredible experience. Smile

My work is often referred to as "modern poetry". Or "sh1te".

I'm easy.

Nice words.thanks.

Ps you not even tempted at all to see how quick you can do it ? With all your biking youll be flying round the flat course. Make a nice change from Avon Tyrell. Cool Twisted Evil

Yeah, I'll admit I've thought about it. Twisted Evil Very Happy But the commitment to training would be massive, and I know how much I struggled last time, so having been successful once, I think I'd struggle to get motivated enough again.

The bike course would certainly suit me more,no doubt! But then again, I know that my day 9 swim experience told me I'd achieved the limit last time along with finishing the last day at a couple of minutes before 4am. I'm not sure there's anything to gain by going again, I feel like I really did go to the limit (which was always a big part of the motivation to do it) Smile
