Looks like my plans for next summer are scuppered, my last chance to do an Ironman event will be may or june which I think means only Lanzarote.

Feel like I'm jumping the gun given how I struggled around Bolton and in the heat in general...but.

Plus I'm unlikely to get the kids out of school...

Maybe I should t after all.

Met someone in Ruta after the race, his son pops along, "Dad, have I still got to have laryngitis"

Guessing they managed to extract theirs!

I saw a few people mentioning they are arriving on the Thurs evening? Is missing the 'mandatory' pre-race briefing an issue in Lanzarote? Would rather skip this if possible?

People just come and go - there is no register of who does or dosent attend.
It's the same has any other race briefing.

I didn't bother with the "mandatory" brief last year, just registered on the Wednesday and never went back to la santa again until cycling past it race day Smile

All of the information is usually in the race pack, so unless it's your first IM or you have any specific questions that you want to ask, I don't think it's strictly necessary to attend. I've been 5 times (I always stay at CLS Wink ) and other than it being part of getting in the race zone, I probably wouldn't bother if I wasn't staying right on site.

Well that's me out Sad
Hadn'tt trained since Oct due to a herniated disc in my neck, physio wasnt helping , so I had surgery last week, got the disc removed and upgraded to a ceramic one (speed benefits unproven )
Another 6 weeks before I am allowed to do anything apart from walking, then alot of physio for the neck. So that's my season over already.
I need to get back to the house in May, so will try to be over on race day and volunteer/spectate.

Next year tho.......

Damn that is bad news. Love Lanza, enjoy the volunteering/spectating and of course route 66.

first time tackling lanza in 6 weeks, 2nd IM after CPH last year. not expecting to clock the same time Smile

already decided the disc is staying at home Smile, but looking over my setup from CPH, do people say yay or nay to aero helmet for lanza? i'm thinking no, the heat (i've a giro advantage so completely closed)might be a major issue and the benefits would seem to be great reduced given the climbing portions

any thoughts? thanks in advance
