still no update on the nutrition partner. got lucky in copenhagen last year, was high 5 which i'd been using for my training. was hoping they'd announce it was them again.

not a huge deal, can bring all my own anyway, but always nice knowing the spares are there

I asked the question on their Facebook page, it was confirmed that the nutrition partner is again powerbar, this has subsequently been backed up on the website.

If anyone wants to volunteer, you need to goto the website below. You can select which aid station on the bike or run you want to be at. I will be the English guy at the final bike aid station , after Tahiche and just beofre you turn onto possibly the worst road surface on the whole Island. After the last rider comes through I'm driving down to Pdc to drink beer and cheer on the runners until the end. Hope to see some of you there!

Website is in Spanish, but with google translate it's easy enough to register

Well, I hope everyone's training is going fine? Last few weeks now.
Am pleased with my swim and bike but have unfortunately damaged my right calf when I stupidly kept going half way through the 5K run of a sprint triathlon I was using as a warm up last Sunday. It is still sore but improving slowly. Absolutely no running now before Lanzarote and keeping my fingers crossed for the day itself.
Btw, I fly out on the 13th. Staying in PDC. I am probably going for a swim on the Tuesday and Thursday and some biking on several days too. If anyone wants to meet up, just pm me. My previous Lanza times are about 1:15 for the swim and 7:45 for the bike so you can judge how useful it would be Very Happy

I've made a last minute decision to enter, and so excited to be racing.

I ended up booking a two bed apartment right near the start from thurs to sun, as was the best accommodation I could find.
I therefore have a spare room - asking for equal share of costs, being 150 for three nights.

Details: https://www.booking.com/hotel/es/bungalows-villas-blancas.en-gb.html?aid=304142;label=gen173nr-1FCAEoggJCAlhYSDNiBW5vcmVmaE2IAQGYAS64AQfIAQ3YAQHoAQH4AQuSAgF5qAID;sid=3244b5ce98b5320b5d5f3bcd83fa30cd;checkin=2017-05-18;checkout=2017-05-21;room1=A;homd=1;atlas_src=hp_iw_title

Let me know if interested!

I think it's about par for the course now. When I raced there for the first time in 2008 I think there were fewer than 1000 people racing. It increased every year until about 2011 when it sold out over 6 months before race day with over 2000 people. Since then, I don't think it's sold out again and the entries have generally been down. I guess there's a lot more choice in the IM market now.

TBH 2000 was too many people for that narrow funnel swim start and it got too congested at the transition end of the run course with the 3 lap run. Even the bike course took quite a long time to thin people out.

1600 is more manageable and the transition doesn't have to be crazy-long.

last few years numbers crept up to 2000 but if work on the 10% no shows looking at 1400+ race day which gives you a bit more elbow room early on
