I know there is camping on site at the outlaw but what is the general opinion on local hotel options? Nothing too fancy but something like a travel lodge or Premier Inn type gaff but local - essentially best local options that are competitor friendly.

Thanks

There is a premier inn fairly close nearby. I stayed there in 2015 and they even opened early for breakfast on the Sunday with offerings of porridge and continental fare. Hotel full of Outlaw triathletes made for lots of interesting conversation as well which was great.

The lift was broken which wasn't fun on the Sunday night or Monday morning but they waived the parking charge because of it which was good.

Fancy sharing details Swimmer?

There's plenty of choice of places on airbnb, not sure the exact one I stayed in is listed for July next year yet but you'll find plenty to choose from.
Only advice I would give for airbnb is that flats risk noise from above/below and now sure how reasonable it'd be to ask them to quieten down so early in evening. Didn't bother me but friends room was bit noisier around 8-9m when he wanted to start settling.

I am considering two hotels for the 2018 Outlaw:

Premier Inn
The Beeches

Both are about 3 miles away from the event site. Does anyone have any experience of either of views on either? There is also a Jury's Inn nearby that might be worth a thought.

Any advice much appreciated - convenience and quality of food will be my key factors in decision making.

Laughing

Is that the kind of feedback you were looking for? Tbh, the only decent food I got was at the Rose & Crown in Cotgrave, the village where I was staying, but the service was so slow that I left before my dessert finally turned-up. Sat night I went to some sh*t chain pub (The Shepherds) where I had to wait about 40 min for a pizza, again sub optimal. I ended-up driving to a takeaway pizza place on Sunday night. On the whole I wasn't impressed with the food options in the area, and that was after looking on the Internet for places in advance.

I stayed in the Jury's twice, 12/13 IIRC. Those years there was a reduced rate on offer for participants, they happily stored bikes and laid on an early buffet breakfast on race day.

There was also an OK Italian on the other side of the road.

If I did Outlaw again would be happy enough to stay at Jury's again.

Only slight negative, car parking is not on site it is over the railway; next to Hooters!

Assume you read my post at the top of the page.

Prem inn was great. Food was as you would expect - reasonable standard but not going to win awards

I was about to but 13 fee for registering online is a piss take. I know it's a small amount compared to the 304 entry fee but it still pisses me off. Bigly.

Me too. Avoidable only by not registering for the race. Active charge an 8% registration fee, so 40 for a 500 IM
