It was a choice between this and the Rubicon for me, so seems I had a lucky escape. Given all the hoo har with that, I thought I'd mention that despite being a tiny event (50 entrants) this was very well organised and a really friendly event. Friendly marshals but almost universally friendly competitors too. No swim biff, words of support/encouragement/humour on the bike and run. I really rate it.

I was genuinely thinking of abandoning triathlons but it was such a good experience that I'm already starting to think about next season instead!

Same here mate...

Raced Rubicon last year when it was Mark's race, but didn't fancy risking it under the new organiser - correct decision I think!

Great little race though and Tim (Speedhub) and the team are super friendly.

Hopefully get a few more entrants next year!

I dont get why its not supported well.

Good race and far better than other local middle distance races like the Avenger and Beaver

Needs a 500 entry fee and a free rucksack and it would sell out in minutes Smile

This is nice to read - I was so shocked at the cost of camping for Outlaw Holkham that I wanted something else to do on the same day. Consequently I'm entered for 2017.

Did this in 2013, it was a great race with a good price and on the day reg/racking.

Will make the effort to bolster numbers next year.

I think people get put off by Bosworth water park as:

a) its not that nice to train in, but for a race, there are plenty of worse lakes
b) they charge for parking, but then the Vitruvian is a rip off for parking
c) Its a bit weedy, but then HPP has a bit of weed too.

A&C) Agree about the lake, its a bit on the weedy side and I'm not sure I'd train in it given other options locally. I think both Bosworth and other local venues are investing in weed cutting etc., so that might improve.

B) Parking was free this year, parked in the field opposite the water park. No issues with partners arriving in separate cars either.

I don't think the race is massively advertised which might explain the low numbers. I think they need to be careful though as scaling it up would require a lot of additional logistics, especially given possible issues with traffic around Bosworth and the park.

Anyone know any more about Market Bosworth Tri? Friend has heard the run round the lake is a poor track? But the times from last year for the Oly are rapid so assuming it was short (advertised as 11km this year)
