Hmmmmmmm. They can't both be on the same weekend, maybe Weymouth will take up the 'week later' slot?

Or revert to a 70.3 race only

Thought about this on the weekend - IMWales was on an earlier date last year and in 2012. It has to switch weeks to match with the high tides. If IMWales was a week later, the tide would be (about) 7 hours out ie, fully out and just turning to come back in. So, they had to swap it with Weymouth and likely will have to rotate every other year. I had a lot of thinking time on the jog Smile

Yeah Just noticed while playing on Google Street view, if the tides out 90% of the swim would need to be Ran Laughing

I hear so many good things about this race plus I like a bit of a hilly bike so I just had to enter for 2017. Also booked into the the Kiln park with the family.

I'm in. Went to watch this year and support some friends. Was jealous as hell when the Welsh National Anthem started.

Booked Kiln Park as I've heard nothing but good things about the place. So glad IM Wales is staying in Tenby until 2021. An iconic race in a beautiful part of the country.

After my disaster of a race in 2015 and 2 more spine ops later, I was really thinking about this race in the last couple of weeks. There is such an enormous sense of regret for a day not achieved (plus my first DNF in tri).

i even went as far as looking at accom availability but try as I might to ignore it, I need to heed the surgeon's warning about prolonged run training and winging a marathon on the day doesn't sound like a recipie for success, or enjoyment Sad

There might be a couple of shorter races in my future but focus will be on endurance riding, TT and racing from now on.

Might make an appearance at LCW though Wink

So, we are waiting on an announcement this afternoon then! What could that be about?

Could anyone who has raced IM Wales before give me any info where athletes can park in Tenby on race day? Just looking at accommodation options and if its feasible to stay slightly out of town. Thanks

The Salterns is a big car park, plus the NCP multi-storey car park in town and there's some parking on Gas Lane (by the small hospital). Driving in on race morning and parking might be a bit difficult if you don't know the area or haven't done a prior recce.

There was deffo a two storey car park in the middle of town, which was alright getting in on race morning, can't remember how easy it was to get out but I hung around after and had some tea etc. and didn't leave until after about 9pm

We stayed out at New Hedges, next to where the wrist bands were handed out. On race morning we drove down to Tenby Junior Community School, Heywood Lane and parked there. No charges. Easy to drive to, easy to get out later, too.

I've entered, as my first Ironman. Also first post on here. I'm grateful of any tips or advice for making it as painless as possible.....if possible!

Hi Iestyn, why would you want to enter an IM? My advice would be practice smiling for the camera.
