It wasn't a wall, in the sense that I was expecting a wall to be. I was expecting the wall to be a point when your energy level drop to zero. In my case, my energy levels felt fine, it was more the tight calf and warning pain in my knee that caused me to slow down.... maybe that is what the wall feels like?
However, I will admit that when I broke my rhythm on the shingle beach, I wasn't able to regain the same pace, I had no calf or knee problems then (this was at 12km to go)
