Presumably others have had the email but apparently this years 70.3 at Staffordshire will be the last one before it moves next year.

Will be interesting to see if it really does move given the new ones at Edinburgh & Weymouth, they also class Dublin as the UK I think, or if it is just dropped.

Interesting to see if anything similar happens to Wimbleball, not sure what its numbers are like.

I had an email from IM offering me a period of discounted entry, but nothing about it ceasing next year.

It does offer a bit of discount as well, but in the first paragraph.

Jeff

Hello Jeff!

Taking place on Sunday 18th June, IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire is our first event on the UK calendar but sadly the last time to be held on the beautiful Shugborough Estate before it moves to a new home.

Wed hate you to miss out on this fabulous race in the heart of the country, so this exclusive entry link will enable you to sign up for a reduced cost of 275, saving you 25 on the current entry price. But be quick as this limited offer closes on Wednesday 15th February.

bargain, only 275 rather than 300. For a half. No wonder it has not sold out.

I was just about to bitch about the price when the discount email came in. Paid 275 for Aix en Provence 70.3 in total, Staffs is more like 350.

Incidentally it's the route that's changing, not the overall location - I forget but it's something to do with a change in the management of Shugborough Hall.

My theory is that Wimbleball will bite the bullet.

Numbers way down last year (about 1300 when other events were around the 2000 mark, and I've raced there with 2200 odd previously), no pro field - very definite 'being run down' feel last year compared to my previous races there.

It is also an awkward bastard for a number of reasons logistically, although personally I love the race and will be there this June.

This would leave them with a neat coverage of events geographically with Weymouth, Staffs (other Midlands??), Edinburgh, Dublin.

It was reported in the local mail that The National Trust now run shugborough instead of the local council, The NT want to focus on conservation on the estate which means the run and finish will not be at Shugborough after this years event.
