Some great rides here. A 58 on the G25/54 is awesome. Smile

Did the Newbury 12hr TT yesterday. Well, the first 5 hours Sad

Went out way too fast. My only other 12 hour I did 234 miles two years ago on a float day on the ECCA course. I took that ride very conservatively but was still running on fumes at the end.

Basically I completely stuffed up my pacing due to the wind with the eastbound leg with the wind reaching some stupidly quick speeds, but I went too hard into wind on the way back as well. Alarm bells should have been ringing when I caught my minute man at the end of the first lap, who a) has ridden a 1:48 50 mile tt and b) I knew he was going for 270 miles. At three hours I had ridden 70 miles so was on 280m pace. it was a spectacular decline from there and I went through 100m in a pb time 4:20.

Although I was slowing I still probably could have ridden a pb, probably 245-55 miles, but I was wearing a new skinsuit and with not as much padding my saddle was really starting to bite. No way I could face another 7 hours of that so decided to pack having covered 116 miles in 5:09.

learnt a lot. I need to get a new saddle before the Outlaw. My position was good. The High 5 nutrition stayed down. Keen to try another one later in the season and get over 250 miles.

Bad luck Wheezy.

I rode that TT in 2015, but was wise enough to pace it very conservatively and we had a reasonable day which I'm told you lot didn't.

The rough bit of road was a %&*king nightmare after 12 hours. Everything hurt, arms, neck and my backside was destroyed.

Not ridden one since, but I did enjoy it. I hit all my targets - club record (238), ave over 20 mph (240) and then my stretch target (250). I rode 255, but finished right at the far end of the course so still had 10 miles or so to get back to HQ - think they were the hardest miles of the lot!

Main issue was bike training was destroyed for 2 weeks after as my saddle sores took ages to heal so it was not ideal as part of training.

It did force me into some changes, I invested in a stupidly expensive Dash saddle which is different gravy to the Adamo I was riding. I also bought some Velcro tape and neoprene sheeting and have built some arm pads that are either 1, 2 or 3 layers thick - so I can easily switch depending on the roughness of curse and length of race to get extra comfort and a slightly softened position.

I feel your pain....

Fair play Wheezy - 5 hours in a TT position is something I can't get my head around, let alone 12 hours!

How'd you get on? I did a solid 3 hour ride on my TT bike last night, neck's a bit stiff this morning!

Was a stupid idea to be fair.

Was my 3rd TT in 7 days which included the 100TT on Sunday and a 20 mile run on Tuesday

Couldn't get the power above 300 watts.
Laps 1 and 2 were pretty consistent at 20:24 and 20:28, but then the legs went "nope" and the last, slightly longer, lap took me to a 1:02:37

Was 5th with 3 guys under the hour.

Not that fussed considering how f**ked I was, was just trying to suffer a bit.

Doing an Olympic on Sunday for some fun and then last 2 weeks of IM training before the 2 week taper

Another night of abject misery on the E2 last night. Managed to squeeze out another 2/3 watts from last week's ride but it was even bloody slower.

22:29 became 22:50. No riders below 20:00, only one below 21:00 - this on a course where you normally see some 18's, a slew of 19's and if you don't record a 20:xx you are BOP.

Properly hacked off!

*forecast looks good for the 100 on Saturday, no doubt by the time I rock up there will be 45mph winds and sleet.... Rolling Eyes *

I remember about 5 years ago I was down to do the 100 there and it was called off at about midnight due to the weather

Does anyone have any times for a 50 that they can relate to 25's and 10's?

I've got my first 50 coming up and, as I don't have a PM, I'm unsure how I'm going to pace it, but having an idea what others have achieved over the same distance compared to 25's and 10's, I may be able to form an idea of a target time.

I appreciate there are many variables, but any info would be good.

So far this year, my PB's are 22:13 and 56:36 for 10 and 25m.
Thank you.

Last year 20:38 for 10, 54:31 for 25 and 1:56:15 for 50.

The 10 was a bit freaky though and most of my other 10's were around low 21, think I got 3 or 4 all around 21:05 - 21:15.

The 1:56 was on a different course than the others (E2/10, E2/25), I'd have aimed for 1:54:xx odd if I'd have ridden a 50 on E2/50.

A pretty good night on the G10/42 yesterday and thought I should get under 23 but rode a 23:47. Had changed my position by raising my saddle a few mms to get a flatter back and lower my frontal area. Felt like a good position but I think it has adversely effected my power, maybe. Without a power meter hard to tell.

Doing the Bedford RC 10 on the F11/10 on Saturday so will probably revert back to my old position and see what happens.

Second club TT of the year for me last night, melting hot! Quite happy with 23:17 on 50x14 fixed and no aero nonsense save a pair of clip-on tribars.

Tried the Vector pedals but they don't like fixed gear, gave me an AP of 205W, I don't think so Rolling Eyes

Sopworth not sure if you have TT'd yet. I did a 50 last weekend in Fife and my times are very similar to you. 10m- 22:03 and 57:01 for 25m.
I did 1:56:57 for the 50m and rode it to power at 92% effort but most of it was off feel. I kept it steady for 35 miles and then went for it

That sounds good, very encouraging. I think i'm going to go off HR and try and sit around 90-94% for the first 25 and see where i'm at. The nationals 50 is quite lumpy so i'm not going to get overly upset if I don't go sub 2.well, I will really!!
Great times BTW.
